Families Loving Their Choice

What a breathe of fresh air knowing that this company provides such a personal touch. They treat their clients with respect and compassion. They take into consideration the details that other companies so easily leave out. It’s a shame more companies aren’t like them, especially working with such fragile situations. They are the best of the best in my eyes. I had the chance to meet the owner and she embodies trust, love and passion for finding the best living/care situation for her clients. Angela is the type of business owner that would literally give you all she has to find what you need. We look forward to a continued relationship with you guys! Cheers!

My wife and I love my mother-in-law but we didn’t have the assisted living expertise to be able to evaluate what’s best for her. Angela (our counselor from LYC) drove out twice and talked to mom. Angela used her terrific interpersonal skills combined with her medical expertise to determine exactly what’s right for mom. Literally dozens of factors were taken into account to find the right place. What impressed me the most is LYC took a comprehensive approach. Both emotional and physical well-being needed to be fully satisfied. Angela showed us a couple places and we eventually found the perfect community for mom. To be brutally honest, it’s not only worked out great for mom but also for us.

Thank heaven we found Living Your Choice!
Recently, our 90-year-old mother became ill and wasn’t going to be able to live on her own anymore, as she’d been doing. My sisters and I were trying to find an assisted living arrangement for her in San Diego, and we were quickly overwhelmed by the options. (It’s very difficult to find a place on your own, just going by the info you see online. Many places don’t post their rates, so you have no idea if you’re looking at something within your budget or not.) I put out a plea on Facebook for any local friends who could recommend a good assisted living place, and a friend suggested we contact Living Your Choice for help.

I wanted to take a moment to thank Living Your Choice for helping me with my dad Bill.
Thank god I had heard of Living Your Choice through a mutual friend. I called and found an expert staff that was able to help me right away. We spent over an hour on the phone discussing my dad, his life, his likes and dislikes, his medical issues, his budget and what he was going to need moving forward. Right away I felt so much better, they understood what was going through and agreed to meet the next morning at the hospital with us both.

Assisted living provides seniors with personalized care, social opportunities, and a safe, supportive environment that enhances independence and quality of life.
Respite care provides temporary relief for family caregivers who need a break from their caregiving responsibilities. This service allows seniors to receive professional care for a short period while ensuring their safety and well-being. Respite care can be offered in various settings such as assisted living, adult day centers, or in-home services, allowing caregivers to recharge and attend to personal needs.
Respite care can range from a few hours to several days or even weeks, depending on the needs of the caregiver and the senior. Flexible arrangements allow families to choose short-term or extended care, ensuring that the senior receives appropriate supervision and support while the caregiver takes time off to rest, handle personal matters, or attend appointments.
Respite care is available to seniors who require temporary assistance, typically those who receive ongoing care at home or in a long-term care facility. Family caregivers, regardless of their experience, can request respite services when they need a break. The goal is to support both the caregiver’s well-being and the continued safety and comfort of the senior.
During respite care, seniors receive support with daily activities such as meal preparation, personal hygiene, and medication management. Many facilities also offer recreational and social activities to keep seniors engaged. The level of care is customized to meet each individual’s needs, ensuring that while caregivers take a break, the senior continues to receive compassionate and professional assistance.
To arrange for respite care, you typically start by contacting a senior living placement agency or local care facility that offers respite services. They will assess the senior’s needs, discuss available options, and help you schedule a suitable time frame. Open communication about care requirements and any special considerations is important to ensure a seamless transition for both the senior and the caregiver.
Respite care offers caregivers a much-needed break, helping to reduce stress, prevent burnout, and maintain their overall well-being. By allowing professionals to care for the senior temporarily, caregivers can focus on self-care, personal appointments, or simply rest. This balance ultimately leads to improved care for the senior when the caregiver returns refreshed and recharged.
Quality in respite care is maintained through professional staff training, personalized care plans, and continuous monitoring. Facilities offering respite care follow strict guidelines and regulations to ensure safety and comfort. Regular feedback from families and seniors helps providers make any necessary improvements, ensuring that care standards remain high throughout the respite period.
Yes, respite care can be provided in the comfort of the senior’s home. In-home respite care services offer the same professional support as facility-based care while allowing the senior to remain in a familiar environment. This option is particularly beneficial for those who prefer staying at home, and it can be customized to meet the specific needs and routines of the individual.
Insurance coverage for respite care varies by policy and provider. Some long-term care or health insurance plans may cover part of the cost, while others might not. It is important to review your insurance details and speak with the care provider to understand potential costs and available financial assistance options before arranging respite services.
Respite care supports family well-being by providing caregivers with temporary relief, which in turn helps reduce stress and maintain mental and physical health. By ensuring that seniors receive quality, professional care during these periods, families can take the necessary breaks and return to caregiving with renewed energy, ultimately benefiting both the caregiver and the senior’s quality of life.
